You: the creators of the means of productions, aka the business owners, are the ones we call inventors. they invent products and services that they in turn sell to you. to create the means of production you have to work for free. and the guarantee of success is not there.

Stranger: because the goal is to maximize your profit and that naturally incentives you to pay your workers the bare minimum society allows you to get away with.
