The Role Of Government
You: that is what I often debate people about. redistribution of welath buys you security. your teams wants to offer security in many aspects of human experience as possible at the cost of freedom. I am not willing to go that far. that is the debate and while you think I want no taxes I said I dont' want most taxes.
Stranger: That’s not really answering my question… maybe I could rephrase it?
Stranger: Why is it necessary to have public police payed by tax money and not just have for profit police force?
You: why don't you tell me why you think taxes outside military and the rule of law are a good thing?
Stranger: I would appreciate it if you could answer my question to you first before we move on.
You: I already told you, humans come together to form society. it is nature, we come together and we must figure it out a role for goverment. I draw the line on the rule of law and military. I don't even think infrastructure should be goverment only. so do you want to debate or do youw ant to go on circles, now please answer my question.
Stranger: Yes, I understand that is your stance and your view on it. I get that, I’m wondering how you got that conclusion. Why are those the only things you think taxes should be spent on? To answer your question I tend to think the role of government is the betterment of society and taxes are a necessary part of improving the lives of the community members.
You: I like the idea of capitalism and the free market. I think competition is a good thing and human greed and creativity are better taken advantage when individuals can reap the rewards of their labor. thanks for answer my questions, different from you, I dont' think it is up to the government to better society that responsibility falls on me.
Stranger: Why don’t your views on capitalism extend to the police force?
You: Because that does not maximize freedom of the individual. the nature of that activity is to deprive humans from freedom. hence why I want the govermetn to have it. cause they are great at taking away freedom.
