Meritocratic Socialism
Stranger: I use the term in one of its broadest senses, collective ownership over the means of production. However the specific society I'd like would be a socialist command economy
You: how do you create the means of production in a socialist society?
Stranger: Through production or do you mean the way that this production is organized? If so I think a labor time accounting system would be favorable
You: well I am sure that will work for already thought out/created and imagined means of production. but you still have to figure it out how to incentivize the business owners to want to be part of your society.
Stranger: I mean the idea behind a socialist command economy is that there'd be no business owners
You: I understand, but then you will be stuck with current technology with slow improvement. I am saying as a creator of the means of production, I would choose a society like capitalism that allows me to reap the rewards of my innovation.
Stranger: I mean you don't need business owners to give people a reward for a good idea or special contribution of some kind
You: for sure, but you are competing with enormous wealth and freedom. what do you offer?
Stranger: I think that a socialist economy might even be able to provide more wealth since on top of being able to have a similar allocation mechanism as capitalism it also allows for optimization on an industry scale. Besides that I think a socialist economy can also offer freedom
You: so kinda of promises.... that does not convince me.
