You: seems a bit on the caution side, on the first one. I can understand it thought.
Stranger: although in some sets more than in others
Stranger: and thirdly, I view ideologies as more prescriptive than descriptive
Stranger: a danger against which I do, indeed, preach caution
You: I can feel how the peer pressure to adopt a label, can let some people have a feel that they are been prescribe or demanded to subscribe to a set of values even thought you might not fully agree with them. Sentiment I can remember having multiple times throughout my life. now a days been thinking that sometimes it is up to us to start dialogue if we want to avoid more gruesome outcomes.
Stranger: the point being?
You: that even thought you might be reluctant to adopt a label that closes describes because your perhaps slightly different view on the issue, would make you into a coward.
Stranger: would it? in what way?
You: the fact that the politics is about governing our society and while you might say that you don't agree fully with x. You still support x through association of a specific group of people who do adopt a label and you are just reluctant to adopt because maybe you see the flaws in them..?
